PCMA Parties With a Purpose

200427737-001Celebrates for BC Hospitality Foundation, Network for the Needy

A healthy mix of fun and philanthropy converge for PCMA’s ever-popular Party With a Purpose (PWAP). The annual event offers Convening Leaders attendees an energetic and lively networking experience, while supporting the PCMA Education Foundation and giving back to PCMA’s host destination.

This year’s PWAP is happening tonight, from 9 p.m. to midnight, in a popup nightclub at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre. By the close of the evening, the Foundation hopes to have raised enough money to support Foundation programs as well as PCMA’s Network for the Needy and the local BC Hospitality Foundation, an organization that supports food, beverage, and hospitality industry members and awards scholarships to hospitality and culinary students who are enrolled in partner post-secondary institutions in British Columbia.

“Proceeds from PWAP go to fuel industry advancement through the work of the PCMA Education Foundation,” said Gary Schirmacher, CMP, 2015 chair of the Foundation. “And as a nod to our host community, we believe the BC Hospitality Foundation is a deserving recipient, as is PCMA’s Network for the Needy program, thanks to its mission to voluntarily link meeting planners with food-donation programs.”

Since the first event, held in 1994, Party With a Purpose has raised more than $1.8 million in charitable donations. PWAP is brought to you by:

• Founding and Sustaining Sponsor: Global Experience Specialists Inc. (GES)
• Venue Partner: Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre
• Live Music Partners: Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau and Austin Convention Center
• Event Sponsor: Visit Houston

“GES is proud of our long history of giving back to organizations that are making a positive impact,” said John Patronski, executive vice president of industry development for GES. “As the founding and sustaining sponsor of Party With A Purpose, GES is honored to provide support to an event that is committed to making a difference by leaving something behind in the community.”

Shuttle service from all PCMA hotels to the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre runs continuously tonight, beginning at 8:30 p.m.
